Privacy policy
How Firmatlas handles personal data: of visitors, of people who create an account or send a request, and within the company data itself.

Who is responsible
Firmatlas is published by Arne Van Daele, enterprise number 0719.679.721, the controller of the personal data on this site. Send privacy questions to [email protected].
Your visit
Firmatlas sets no tracking or advertising cookies and shows no ads. Visitor statistics come from Umami, which we host ourselves and which works without cookies. It does not store IP addresses.
To prevent abuse, such as spam or too many requests, we use your IP address. Our database only keeps an irreversible hash of it. The site runs behind Cloudflare, which passes on and protects the traffic and processes your IP address to do so.
Your account
For an account we only ask for your email address. You sign in with a link we send to that address. The site then sets a single cookie, fa_session, which keeps you signed in and expires after 30 days without use. We store your browser type with your session and erase expired sessions. Sign-in links are erased after 7 days.
For security, we keep a log of important actions on your account, such as signing in, with a hash of your IP address. That log is erased after 12 months. We keep your account data for as long as the account exists.
Correction and removal requests
The request form asks for your name, your email address, the enterprise number and your message. We use them only to handle your request and reply to you, and erase them one year after our decision. If your request led to a page being removed, we then keep only the enterprise number and our decision. Your email address is never shown.
Company data
The company data comes from the open data of the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises (KBO/BCE), published by the FPS Economy for reuse. It can contain personal data, for example when a company name is a person’s name or the registered office is a home address. We publish it on the basis of our users’ and our own legitimate interest in easily accessible, official company information.
Enterprises that are natural persons, such as self-employed people trading in their own name, get no page and do not appear in search results. We never show email addresses from the KBO.
Is something wrong, or do you object to a page? Use the request form. Have an error corrected in the KBO as well, or it will come back with the next update.
Who we share data with
We sell no data. Service providers process data only on our behalf: a hosting provider for the servers, Cloudflare for the network and an email service for sign-in and reply emails.
Your rights
You can access your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict its processing, object to it and receive it in a common format. Send your request to [email protected]; we reply within one month.
If you disagree with how we handle your data, you can file a complaint with the Belgian Data Protection Authority.
